A total of 1,602 qualified examinees are expected to show up in 13 testing centers all over the Caraga Region on October 19, 2019 for the test administration of the National Competitive Examination (NCE) by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Philippine Science High School (PSHS).

 

The NCE is a one-time screening process to assess the applicant’s aptitude in science, mathematics, language, and abstract reasoning, in view of offering free scholarships for high school students who will likely take up a college degree in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) after graduation.

 

There are a total 13 testing centers in the Caraga Region with test administrators from the Philippine Science High School – Caraga Region Campus (PSHS – CRC). The applicant’s assigned testing center is indicated in the test permit. Here are the specific locations of this year’s NCE testing centers in the Caraga Region.

§  Caraga Regional Science High School (Surigao City, Surigao del Norte)

§  Dapa National High School (Dapa, Surigao del Norte)

§  Cantilan National High School (Cantilan, Surigao del Sur)

§  Lianga National Comprehensive High School (Lianga, Surigao del Sur)

§  Saint Therese College High School Department (Tandag City, Surigao del Sur)

§  De La Salle John Bosco College (Bislig City, Surigao del Sur)

§  Don Ruben E. Ecleo Sr. National High School (San Jose, Dinagat Islands)

 

 

Results are usually released in December.  The list of principal qualifiers per PSHS campus will be posted on the PSHS official website:  www.pshs.edu.ph and will be published in a national newspaper.  Results will also be available in all PSHS campuses around the country. The release of the NCE test results shall be in compliance with the Philippine Data Privacy Act. NCE examinees may either signify or not to allow the PSHS to announce their name publicly in the event they are included in the list of principal qualifiers. Either way, all successful qualifiers will receive an official email and call from the campus where they are qualified to enroll.

 

Applicants who are admitted to the Philippine Science High School are considered government scholars and are entitled to receive benefits such as free tuition fee, free loan of textbooks, monthly stipend, uniform, transportation and living allowances for low-income groups, and dormitory accommodation.

 

Every year, thousands of students are taking the NCE in the hope of qualification for the scholarship provided by the PSHS, a service institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
