Hon. FORTUNATO DELA PEÑA, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology and Chair of the PSHS System Board of Trustees, announces the names of the successful qualifiers to the Philippine Science High School System (PSHSS) Search for Scholars for 2020. Of the 30,986 applicants, 1,540* examinees successfully hurdled the one-step screening administered on October 2019.
The qualifiers have to IMMEDIATELY contact the Registrar or the Campus Director of the PSHS Campus they are qualified to enroll, or visit www.pshs.edu.ph or www.dost.gov.ph for more information on early enrolment. Deadline for slot confirmation/ reservation of principal qualifiers is on January 31, 2020 for Main Campus qualifiers, and on February 18, 2020 for regional campus qualifiers. Specific schedule of other enrolment activities shall be announced by the respective campuses. Alternate Qualifiers of Main Campus will be called starting February 1, 2020. Alternate Qualifiers of regional campuses will be called starting February 19, 2020.

Pisay Caraga was hailed First Runner Up after garnering a total of 51 wins in the recently concluded Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) held at Libertad National High School in Butuan City on October 16 - 18, 2019.
The contestant student-journalists of PSHS - CRC emerged victorious in their respective categories from a total of 36 participating high schools in Butuan City Division of the Department of Education, who enlisted their active participation in the advocacy of optimizing the power of communication.
Pisayanos competed for individual and group awards on various forms of journalistic writing and broadcast reporting. With this year’s theme, “Empowering Communities through Campus Journalism”, Pisay Caraga bagged the following top-tier awards:

The winners will advance to the regional-level competition slated this November with the hopes of maintaining the winning streak of PSHS - CRC in the field of campus journalism.
The annual conference is pursuant to Republic Act (RA) 7079 or the Campus Journalism Act of 1991, which is principled with the policy of the state to uphold and protect the freedom of the press at the campus level and to promote the development and growth of campus journalism as a means of strengthening ethical values, encouraging critical and creative thinking, and developing moral character and personal discipline of the youth.
